#AVANCEONLIFE: The Pros & Cons of Remote Work

When I joined the Avanceon team, I was asked if I would be willing to relocate to Pennsylvania or not. This question came right after I purchased my first home in Oklahoma. I had finally gotten everything set up to my family’s liking, we weren’t too keen on packing up and leaving after just getting settled. Luckily, Avanceon accommodates a remote workforce that allows me to be an active team member without having to go through the hassle of moving. However, that does not mean that working remotely is always preferable. Hopefully by sharing my experience, you will be able to decide what work environment is best suited for you.

Recently, I stepped into the so-called real world after college. One key lesson I have learned is to learn by example. Sure you can find a list of directions for a majority of the tasks you come across in work and life. However, the day-to-day nuances of sending a professional email and even blending into company culture are learned from the example your colleagues set. You may not realize it as first, but quickly you will come accustomed to how you interact with colleagues and supervisors and it will become second nature.
